Inspirations: Andrew Tischler
It has been really cool to see the resurgence of realism all over the world thanks to the internet. When I was younger I wondered if there were still any Rembrandts or Da Vincis still out there or if we as a species had lost the ability to create the kinds of amazing drawings and paintings that they produced. When I ran across Andrew Tischler and the band of art world misfits he has collected on his Podcast, The Creative Endeavor, I found my answer.
Tischler is a Texas-born, Australia-raised artist who lives in New Zealand, which gives him quite the interesting accent. The son of a sculptor, he went through art school and faced the same kind of disillusionment that a lot of realists face in a world dominated by abstraction. Eventually, he found his way and is now sought after world-wide for his amazing masterpieces. You can check out his gallery here.
The Creative Endeavor is a great Podcast to listen to while painting, and my go-to. He interviews artists across the world working in different fields of art. He covers how they became artists, what they love to capture, and how they run the business side of things.
